Jerome Daniel Murphy

I continually struggle with “Form Over Function” and “Function Over Form.”  More often than not, “Form Over Function” prevails.  I must exploit the ritual of creating.  Moreover, personal expression while collaborating with the unique qualities of clay bodies I experiment with often dictates form and line; I love this aspect of the creative process, it provides me with nourishment and inspiration.  I strive to communicate my presence in the finished vessel.  I feel a connection to contemporary as well as ancient pottery, and strive to create ceramics that will with stand the test of time.
