Irene Saito

I am a potter because I want my work to occupy a domestic setting, to become part of the environment of the viewer/user.  I hope that my pieces will participate in people’s lives as beautiful functional objects.  To this end I try to make my work as comfortable and inviting to use as possible, to encourage this sort of interaction.  I like to think that if I can make these commonplace objects beautiful enough, perhaps it could pop them out into the foreground of your consciousness just a little bit more, instead of them merely being present but unnoticed.
